Most fascinating place of our historical industrial past. A great day out for all ages. Staff so friendly, especially David who drove us around, was a wonderful help when you can't walk far.
Updated in the last couple of years. Parking is fine. Plenty of National Trust staff who are very knowledgeable and approachable. Nice garden although a little steep in places. Shuttle bus service available from the car park . Great insight into factory life in the industrial revolution. Lovely woodland walks too.
Absolutely love this place. Great nature and scenic walks, very peaceful. Good walks if you have a dog through the woods. Very historic and pretty. A little cafe where you can eat you lunch is very nice, also good for picnics.
An enjoyable day out for the family. The mill building and house were very interesting. Staff were very knowledgeable and keen to tell us more. Wanted to see the apprentice house but the need to book an escorted tour made it difficult. Food in the mill cafe was limited but good quality.Would like to return in the summer to see the gardens in bloom.
Fantastic trust property with a working mill! Lots to look at and explore, and everything was open when we visited and also on New Year's Eve. The cafe and restaurant could be improved however: the one in the mill was full, hot and noisy when we went. I guess, living up to its name?
